Hello from the Founder
July 23, 2025
Welcome to Curio Consulting! Thank you for stopping by to explore what we’re building here. As the founder and principal consultant, I’ll be sharing insights, perspectives, and practical guidance in this space—all centered around the intersection of technology, human experience, and organizational change.
My Journey: From Words to Systems
My path to consulting began in an unexpected place: creative writing. While I studied the craft of storytelling, my career took a more technical turn after college when I became a technical writer. It takes creativity to make complex technology sound both approachable and authoritative while maintaining accuracy within strict guidelines. It’s creative problem-solving at its finest.
But curiosity has always been my driving force. I couldn’t simply document the technology that reached my desk—I needed to understand how we arrived at those solutions in the first place. This led me deeper into the world of testing, requirements gathering, business analysis, and training.
Widening My Lens
My next chapter as a project manager opened up new dimensions of understanding. Working on government programs and systems, I became fascinated with the bigger picture: how do all these pieces fit together? How do we move complex initiatives forward while keeping human needs at the center?
This curiosity drove me to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Management, where I dove deep into the questions that I needed to understand: What drives programs to exist? How are they funded and measured? Most importantly, what behaviors and systemic changes do these programs enable—or inadvertently hinder—based on how they’re designed and executed?
Technology as a Human Story
Throughout this journey, technology has remained a constant thread, continually drawing me back into its orbit. And for good reason: technology touches every aspect of our lives, from how we work and play to how we travel and progress as a society. Yet we often take it for granted, forgetting that it was created by humans, can be changed by humans, and should ultimately serve human needs.
I love reminding people that “everything is made up.” Nothing in our systems, processes, or technologies just “is”—it was all designed and built by people making decisions. When we’re deep in the day-to-day work, it’s easy to forget this fundamental truth. That’s where my focus on change management and technology adoption becomes crucial.
The Human-Machine Partnership
Human-machine interaction isn’t science fiction—it’s the reality of how we live today. As much as I once dreamed of writing creative stories about the future, I’m now driven by something more immediate: the opportunity to actively shape that future in ways that enhance rather than diminish our humanity.
My work centers on ensuring we don’t lose our essential humanness as we design technology, programs, and systems.
